Schoenhut Baby Doll.
Wood doll head on composition body.
I did not know until I got this doll and did some research that some of the Schoenhut baby dolls came with composition bodies.
According to the book M. Elaine and Dan Busers Guide to Schoenhuts Dolls, toys, and circus, ,Page 57 "composition body described in the 1920s catalogs" , and a photo on page 59, some of the Baby dolls came with composition bodies!
Wood Head: Socket head about 5" tall.
I believe that the face has been repainted, at least the eyes, but the eyebrows are faded and look all original so maybe only the eyes have been repainted.
Probably original wig.
Markings on back of head worn but can tell that it is the marking incised that was used by Harry Schoenhut, the son of the founder, Albert Schoenhut.
Overall about 14 1/2" laying down.
Loosely strung, needs tightened.
Antique Baby Composition body.
Some toe surface and end wear with a few tiny chips.
Finger surface worn but all intact.
Typical wear/chips on upper top of legs.
Body wear/chips, couple of craze crack lines.
Old crochet booties, newer dress, slip, bonnet, and diaper.
Cute Schoenhut baby doll just needs to be dressed better!
